ArmInfo. The Ministry of Defense of Armenia hosted a meeting of the Insurance Foundation for Servicemen, better known as the "1000 Dram" Foundation.
As the press secretary of the RA Ministry of Defense Artsrun Hovhannisyan said on his Facebook page, during the meeting a decision was made to expand the network of beneficiaries of the Foundation.. "In particular, it was decided that from January 1, 2020, under the compensation program, families of military personnel who died or received a disability for the period until 1998 will be provided. I also remind that until now compensation has been provided to beneficiaries until 2008. Undoubtedly, this is an important decision for thousands of families, "Hovhannisyan wrote.
December 15, 2016 MPs of the National Assembly of Armenia by the ratio of votes 84 <for>, 4 <against> and 1 <abstained> in the third and final reading adopted the draft <On Compensation for Damage to the Life or Health of Military Personnel in the Defense of the Republic of Armenia> with the attached package of bills. As the author of the initiative, the head of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia Vigen Sargsyan, stated that time, compensation will be paid to the families of servicemen who died or were injured in the fighting, while on combat duty on the contact line or during special missions: from 5 to 10 million drams at a time monthly - from 200 to 300 thousand drams for 20 years. To implement this, a special Insurance Foundation for Servicemen created, where every employed citizen of the Republic of Armenia is obliged to transfer 1000 drams per month. The financial resources necessary for the compensation payments by the Foundation are also generated by payments made during the use of the services of state or municipal bodies (500 and 200 drams for each service); through the sale of special bonds; due to incoming grants, gifts and donations; at the expense of profit received as a result of management (in the form of investments) of collected fonds. The law began to operate in 2017 and has no retroactive effect. All operations of the Foundation can be tracked on the website https://www.1000plus.am/ru. From January 1 to the end of December 2017 Compensation was given to the families of 27 killed servicemen, as well as 6 soldiers injured during the fighting, for a total of 360 million drams. In August 2018, amendments were introduced to the law "On Compensation of Damage Caused to the Life or Health of Military Personnel in the Protection of the Republic of Armenia", due to which the circle of beneficiaries of the program expands from year to year.
