ArmInfo.Artsakh Foreign Minister Masis Mayilyan received members of the US Congress Jackie Speyer and Judy Chu.
As the NKR MFA press service reports, the head of the Artsakh Foreign Ministry noted that the republic's authorities attach great importance to relations between Artsakh and the United States at various levels. Masis Mayilyan praised the efforts of members of Congress, especially the Committee on Armenian Issues, to support a peaceful settlement of the Azerbaijani-Karabakh conflict, to establish and strengthen stability in the region, as well as to assist in providing financial assistance to Artsakh from the United States government. In this context, the Foreign Minister emphasized the vigorous activity of Jackie Speyer and Judy Chu, aimed at Washington's recognition of the fact of the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire and support of the Royce-Engel proposal regarding the settlement of the Azerbaijani-Karabakh conflict, providing for the withdrawal of snipers from the contact line of the troops, the establishment of mechanisms for monitoring the ceasefire and increasing the number of OSCE observers in the conflict zone.
At the request of the guests, Masis Mayilyan presented the main directions and priorities of Artsakh's foreign policy, as well as the processes of international recognition of the Republic of Artsakh and the peaceful settlement of the Azerbaijani-Karabakh conflict.
During the meeting, questions were raised regarding the prospects for further development of cooperation between the Artsakh authorities and members of the US Congress.
Deputies of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Lilit Makunts and Sos Avetisyan, deputy of the National Assembly of the Artsakh Republic David Melkumyan also took part in the meeting.
