ArmInfo. The Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Russian Federation said that, with proper planning, the Eurasian Economic Union would provide a historic opportunity to increase Iran's exports to six countries in the region.
Mehdi Sanai said that Iran's presence in the Eurasian Economic Union is an important step towards expanding regional and commercial cooperation with its northern neighbors and achieving one of the main goals of macro-policy, IRNA reports.
According to him, an agreement on a free trade zone between Iran and the EAEU was reached after three years of intensive negotiations with the Union Secretariat in Moscow.
The implementation of the Free Trade Agreement between Iran and the EAEU will begin on October 27 and there will be a reduction in tariffs on more than 500 goods exported from Iran. "With proper planning, this will provide a historic opportunity to increase our exports to six countries," Sanai added.
It should be noted that currently the EAEU includes five states - Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Armenia. Members of the association enjoy the right to freely move goods, services and labor.
