Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced this at a meeting with Moldovan President Igor Dodon, who arrived in Yerevan to attend an expanded meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council.
According to the Prime Minister's press service, Pashinyan was convinced that currently there are all the makings for this. "Especially within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union, new opportunities are opening up for our cooperation, and I am sure that concrete steps will be achieved with real steps," he said.
In turn, Dodon stated that for the third time in the past two and a half years, he has been visiting Yerevan. "We hope that in the near future you will pay your first official visit to the Republic of Moldova. I would like to once again invite you to Moldova. You know that our countries have traditionally developed very good, friendly relations in all areas. Of course, we would like to move faster in terms of turnover. In this regard, in parallel with your visit, you can organize a meeting of the Armenian-Moldovan intergovernmental commission, which has not been held for a long time. We are now approving the composition of the Moldovan side of the Intergovernmental Commission. In this regard, I hope that your official visit and the meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission will take place at the beginning of next year, " Dodon said.
He also expressed gratitude for the assistance in obtaining Moldova observer status in the EAEU. Dodon stated that on May 14 last year, Moldova became the first country to receive observer status in the EAEU. "This is a very interesting, promising platform for us. As an observer country, we are present at all meetings at the presidential level. I think that we have very serious, good potential in this direction," said the President of Moldova.
Having said that political changes took place in Moldova in early June, Dodon stated that, having received a parliamentary majority, they formed a new government, which enjoys the support of about 80% of the population of the Republic. "For the first time in Moldova's 28 years of independence, an internal consensus has been formed that is being strengthened by foreign policy consensus. It gives us a good opportunity to advance in foreign trade and foreign policy relations. I also hope that our bilateral relations will reach a new level, both after my visit and after your official visit, " the President of Moldova said. In this regard, Nikol Pashinyan noted that the specific dates for his visit to Moldova have already been determined, and now it is necessary to work on developing an efficient agenda. The Prime Minister of Armenia welcomed the stabilization of the political situation in Moldova, which will contribute to the country's progress and the development of cooperation with partner countries. The interlocutors during the meeting discussed the possibility of developing cooperation between the two countries in various fields, exchanged views on the issue of conflict resolution, touched on the Nagorno- Karabakh conflict, as well as the situation in Transnistria. The parties emphasized the importance of a peaceful resolution of conflicts in the context of regional stability, security and development and expressed mutual support in this process.
