ArmInfo. The participation of the heads of Singapore and Iran in the Yerevan meeting of the EAEU opens up new horizons for Armenia and contains new opportunities. Former Adviser to the Prime Minister of Armenia, independent expert Arsen Kharatyan, expressed a similar opinion to ArmInfo.
A meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council was launched in Yerevan with the participation of the leaders of the EAEU member states, as well as invited guests: Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong .
Today, it is expected to sign the Free Trade Agreement, as well as the framework agreement on comprehensive economic cooperation between the EAEU and Singapore. Later, five bilateral agreements on trade in services and on investments will also be signed, which will allow creating a comprehensive free trade zone of the "goods + services + investments" format.
"In my opinion, the high level of representation of Singapore and Iran at the EAEU Yerevan summit tells volumes, opening up quite good prospects for Armenia as a transit country for their interest in the Eurasian economic zone. Given the relative youth of the EAEU, the interest and involvement of other countries in cooperation with this organization is still at the stage of formation. And it is very good that all this is taking shape in Yerevan, "he stressed.
According to Kharatyan, Armenia, in turn, clearly has something to learn from Singapore. In particular, the development of human potential and abilities, many other aspects that contributed to the formation of the Singaporean economic miracle. According to the expert, in Armenia there is a clear understanding of the situation and prospects contained in the development of cooperation with Singapore, which was expressed in a statement by the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan during his visit to Singapore.
