ArmInfo. Azerbaijan is taking a multilateral approach to international issues. This was stated by Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov from the rostrum of the UN General Assembly in New York, Anadolu reports.
The head of Azerbaijani diplomacy, remaining faithful to the country's policy, accused Yerevan of sabotaging the peace negotiations and neglecting international law.
"The unresolved problem that undermines peace and security in the region remains the issue of "occupation" by Armenia of almost a fifth of the territory of Azerbaijan. Despite the ongoing meetings of the leaders of the two countries, the conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh is still not resolved. In words and deeds, Yerevan is trying to hinder the process and sabotage efforts to find a peaceful settlement. Armenia must fulfill international obligations, "Mammadyarov emphasized.
He noted that negotiations cannot continue indefinitely, and <Azerbaijan, in accordance with the provisions of the UN Charter and international law, has the right to self-defense>.
