ArmInfo. RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, today, visited the French Embassy in Armenia.
According to the press service of the Government of the Republic of Armenia, the Prime Minister on behalf of the Government of Armenia and on his own behalf expressed his condolences to Ambassador of France to Armenia Jonathan Lacote, the Embassy staff and the friendly people of France in connection with the death of former French President Jacques Chirac.
Nikol Pashinyan left a note in the book of condolences that opened at the French Embassy. " In Armenia, we learned with great sadness about the death of former French President Jacques Chirac. France lost a statesman and great man. Jacques Chirac was indeed one of the symbols of the rise of the Armenian-French interstate relations. The Armenian people will never forget their sincere friendship, decisive contribution to the international recognition of the Armenian Genocide and mediation efforts for a peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh issue. His state visit to Armenia was a great event for us. Mr. Chirac's death was a great loss for everyone. "I express my deepest condolences to the friendly people of France, the French state, as well as the family and relatives of Chirac. His name will forever remain in our hearts," wrote Nikol Pashinyan. Jacques Chirac, has died aged 86 on September 26. He was president of France from 1995 to 2007. The ceremony of farewell to Chirac will be held in Paris on September 30. After the church service, French President Emmanuel Macron will receive at the Champs Elysees the heads of state who have come to pay tribute to the former head of state. Armenia will be represented at the funeral ceremony by Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan.
