ANC: The regime of Robert Kocharian and Serzh Sargsyan made every  effort to conceal the fact of overthrowing the constitutional order  with use of armed forces

ArmInfo. The regime of Robert  Kocharian and Serzh Sargsyan made every effort to conceal the fact of  the overthrow of the constitutional order using the armed forces. In  this sense, the trial of the March 1, 2008 case is much larger than  the issue of the individual or persons.  

This is stated in the  statement of the Armenian National Congress, distributed on September  27.  The party believes that the charge brought by the Special  Investigation Service to the former head of the Armenian Police Alik  Sargsyan in the case of the March 1, 2008 events reveals horrific  realities. In addition, the facts of investigations of the CCC of  Armenia are many times higher than all the facts known to this day in  this case.

It should be noted that during the investigation of the criminal case  being investigated in the CCC of Armenia regarding the events that  occurred in the city of Yerevan from March 1 to 2, 2008, Alik  Sargsyan was charged with abuse of power, official forgery and  concealment of a crime.  The ANC statement also emphasizes that the  accusation is an exhaustive disclosure of the truth that the Armenian  National Congress (ANC) has been talking about for many years,  namely, a crime committed by the authorities against their own  people.  According to the ANC, based on the aggregate of sufficient  evidence obtained in the framework of the criminal investigation, the  fact is confirmed that in 2008 rallies against the falsification of  the results of the February 19 presidential election on the square  Freedom was peaceful, lawful, there was no violation of public order,  and there was no threat.  The ANC also claims that on Liberty Square  on the morning of March 1, there were absolutely no legal grounds for  the police to disperse the peaceful demonstration, and the  "justifications" put forward by the authorities that the  demonstrators had weapons and explosives or the distribution of  ammunition were invented to the end.  "It is obvious that the police  would resort to such illegal actions only on the direct instructions  of the first person of the republic, having received guarantees of  impunity from him," the party said.  The statement also notes that  after it became clear that the movement did not back down and  consistently presented to the public numerous video materials and  other evidence refuting the regime's version, the authorities  retroactively undertook the creation of about two and a half dozen  fake official documents and large-scale actions to falsify material  evidence.  High-level officials of the police, the Ministry of  Justice and the presidential apparatus entered the falsification  processes, the report emphasizes.  "Three months later, falsified  retroactively, mainly by On February 29 and March 1, official  documents were submitted NA Interim Commission for the Study of March  1 Events and Underlies extensive report.  They later attempted  disorient the fact-finding team. In the same time, falsified  materials were sent to the authorities conducting the proceedings in  the criminal case. The ANC also states that in order to avoid possible sanctions, the  results of large-scale falsifications aimed at concealing the crime  of March 1 were necessary for the regime to be submitted to  international instances, in particular to the European Court of Human  Rights (ECHR) and the Council of Europe.  <This inglorious mission  was entrusted to the representative of Armenia at the ECHR, then  Deputy Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia Gevorg  Kostanyan, which, of course, would be possible only with the  assistance of the ECHR judge Alvina Gyulumyan. In the future, Gevorg  Kostanyan was "awarded" the post of Prosecutor General of the RA for  the services rendered, and Gyulumyan - a member of the Constitutional  Court>, - added to the party.  The ANC continued that the regime has  made every effort to conceal the overthrow of the constitutional  order using the armed forces, and for this purpose, on February 22, a  false order was signed by the Chief of the Armenian Police Hayk  Harutyunyan on the alleged use of army vehicles to serve the police.   For the same purpose, a new group crime was committed, distinguished  by its unprecedented cynicism, the party claims. <The cartridges of  more than 1000 cartridges fired from army weapons that were found at  the scene after the events of March 1 were replaced by cartridges of  cartridges fired from the same weapons assigned to the internal  troops, that is, material evidence was falsified.  All this indicates  that as a result of the regime of Robert Kocharian and Serzh  Sargsyan, who reigned in the country for two decades, in fact, the  state institutions of justice were liquidated.  The state machine -  the police, the National Security Service, the investigating  authorities, the prosecutor's office, the courts, and the National  Assembly were literally drawn into a criminal gang that seized the  levers of state power solely for the purpose of serving its own  enrichment. These shameful disclosures provide a significant  additional legal basis for the review and full justification of court  decisions against political prisoners in the March 1 case.  The  preliminary investigation of the case and the ongoing trial should  restore the people's faith in statehood and justice and create strong  guarantees of the rights, security and dignified life of a citizen,  "the party concluded.  It should be noted that the ex-president of  Armenia, two former heads of the defense ministry, the former  secretary general of the Collective Security Treaty Organization and  the former head of the presidential administration are already being  charged as defendants.
