France lost a great statesman. Devoting all her life to France and also embodying the greatness of France He further enhanced France's reputation for the international community, accompanying his selfless service to the homeland with steps to protect the rights and sovereignty of other peoples. The Armenian people will not forget the sincere friendship of President Chirac, his decisive contribution to the recognition of the Armenian Genocide by the rule of law and his mediation in the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. The Armenian people are also grateful to Chirac for his efforts to preserve the Armenian cultural heritage, including his personal attention to the cultural monuments of Ani, the historical capital of Armenia. President Chirac was indeed one of the symbols of the development of the Armenian-French interstate relations. We recall with great warmth his state visit to Armenia, the opening of France Square in Yerevan with his participation, as well as the unprecedented celebration of the year of Armenia in France. I express my deepest condolences to the friendly French people, the French state, family members and friends of Chirac. The Armenian people mourn over the death of the great statesman and great personality. "
