"Ararat-Antiterror-2019" exercises demonstrated high readiness of all units of the National Security Service, the police, the Ministry of Defense, and the Ministry of Emergencies of Armenia for anti-terrorism protection of crucial facilities of the republic. This was announced on September 26 by the acting head of the NSS, Eduard Martirosyan, at the Baghramyan military training ground, following the completion of the final stage of the exercises of the CIS member states.
At the same time, he stressed that all the goals set during the exercises were fulfilled. "The purpose of the ''Ararat - Anti-Terror - 2019'' exercises has been achieved, "he said, once again recalling that the intelligence services of seven states - Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan took part in the exercises.
In turn, the head of the CIS Antiterrorist Center Andrei Novikov said that extraordinary scenarios were used at the final stage of the military operation. "Every year, when we conduct exercises, we try to go ahead of the information that we receive about terrorist groups about the possibility of militants to return to their homeland and use the so-called" sleeping cells "," Novikov said, adding in this context that the chosen topic of protection critical facilities are relevant for all Commonwealth countries, since the fuel and energy corridors of the CIS countries form a single network, the disruption of which can lead to loss of control of the country's economy.
At the same time, Novikov noted that the exercises showed the ability of countries to solve tasks together by joint forces.
The joint anti-terrorist exercise of the competent authorities of the CIS countries <Ararat-Antiterror-2019> was held on September 25-26, 2019 by the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia, with the coordinating role of the Anti-Terrorism Center of the CIS Member States.
