ArmInfo.Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov on the sidelines of the 74th session of the UN General Assembly in New York informed OSCE Secretary General Thomas Greminger about the last meeting with the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group. "The illegal presence of the Armenian armed forces in the occupied Azerbaijani territories is the main threat to regional peace and stability," Mammadyarov said during the meeting, Interfax Azerbaijan reports citing the press service of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.
The Foreign Ministry notes that the minister informed his interlocutor about the current state of the negotiation process to resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, including the last meeting with the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group in New York. Mammadyarov noted the importance of resolving the conflict on the basis of the norms and principles of international law, the Helsinki Final Act and UN Security Council resolutions, as well as in accordance with decisions of the OSCE and other international organizations. "The main condition for achieving lasting peace and security, as well as progress in the region, is the settlement of the conflict," the minister said. The head of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry also noted that Baku attaches great importance to cooperation with the OSCE.
