According to the head of the prime minister's office, despite the fact that the tender was not held - the procurement of services was carried out on one person and 76 companies were involved in organizing the event, which will operate under unified management.
As the head of the government's apparatus noted, the most "expensive" line of holiday expenses is the stage for the gala concert, on which the most modern equipment, sound and lighting equipment will be installed. At the same time, he noted that the Independence Day outside the capital is planned to be made traditional.
How will the Independence Day of Armenia be celebrated in Gyumri The main events dedicated to September 21 Independence Day will begin in Gyumri Central Park at 11:00. On Shaumyan Street in Gyumri, the works of artists and craftsmen from Shirak region will be presented. In separate pavilions, Rustaveli Street will feature regional flavor and crafts, where you can get acquainted with the traditions of not only Armenia, but also Artsakh.
Gastronomic pavilions will operate on Abovyan Street, where Gyumri cuisine will be demonstrated. Vardanants Square will be transformed into a children's town, which will host events for children of all age groups. The Hovhannes Shiraz House-Museum will host public discussions with political, public, and cultural figures on the topic "Vision for the Proportional Development of Communities." In the cinema "October" a documentary film of the Gyumri director Sona Simonyan "Great Expectations" will be screened. In the hall of the Aslamazyan sisters, a photo exhibition dedicated to the independence of Armenia will be held. On the streets of Gyumri, a festival of folk songs and dances, classical and modern music is expected.
At 19:00 a gala concert will begin with the participation of famous Armenian and foreign stars. In particular, the performance of the Armenian group Supacooks, German DJs Dole & Kom and the American group Capital Cities are planned. The events will end at 23:00 with a festive salute. Within the framework of the events dedicated to the 28th anniversary of the Republic of Armenia, the "Hero of Our Time" Prize will be awarded for the first time. The prize will be awarded to one of those people who created their own business on their own and connected their future with Armenia. According to the head of the "Information and Analytical Center of the Government" SNCO, Hovhannes Movsisyan, the prize symbolizes the person's ability to achieve the goal through individual efforts. Independence Day events will also be organized in Yerevan and other regions of Armenia.
How to get there? On Independence Day, 4 electric trains will operate in the direction Yerevan - Gyumri - Yerevan. Trains will leave Yerevan at 07:55, 9:15, 9:55 and 12:00, and return back at 20:25, 21:40, 22:40 and 24:00. According to the estimates of the Gyumri City Hall, the city plans to receive about 15 thousand visitors.
