ArmInfo.Former Chief of Police of Armenia Vladimir Gasparyan was charged in the framework of a criminal case on the fact of abuse of official position by a number of officials of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia.
According to the press service of the Investigative Committee (IC) of the Republic of Armenia, according to the information received, Vladimir Gasparyan, being the Chief (commander) and official, namely, from June 1997 to October 2010, holding the post of Chief of the Military Police of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia, and from November 2011 - Deputy Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia, was informed that 3 servicemen of the military unit of the Ministry of Defense, from 2001, 2004, and 2009, respectively, were ordered to be appointed by the military police, however, from the day of their appointment, they have not been to the services.
Instead, one of them worked as the personal driver of the brother of Serzh Sargsyan - Levon Sargsyan, and two worked in the guard of the other brother of the president - Alexandr Sargsyan. Thus, as noted in the message, guided by personal and group interests, in order to be honored by the abovementioned persons by abusing their official powers, Gasparyan allowed these employees to carry out work not related to their status.
Moreover, according to the source, Gasparyan ordered the servicemen subordinate to him not to give legal action to the indicated circumstances. In addition, on December 3, 2010, while holding the post of Deputy Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia, Vladimir Gasparyan extended the service life of one of these servicemen by 5 years. As a result, these persons unjustifiably received AMD 21.691.481 from the state budget, thereby causing damage to the state on an especially large scale.
"Based on a comparison of the evidence obtained, V. Gasparyan was charged under Part 2, Article 375 (Abuse of power, abuse or inaction of power - the same acts that entailed grave consequences through negligence, shall be punished by imprisonment of three to eight years. ) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia.
Given that Vladimir Gasparyan is charged with the execution of a criminal act in the status of deputy minister with abuse of power, it is planned to send a criminal case to the General Prosecutor's Office to discuss the implementation of the preliminary investigation by the Special Investigation Service.
