ArmInfo. The office of the Ombudsman of Armenia responded to a statement made the day before by the director of the Republican Center for Educational Psychology Armine Davtyan, in which the psychologist talks about her method of working with children who have problems with behavior.
The statement by the human rights defender noted that the video shows evidence of violence against children. Any violence and punishment against the child is considered unacceptable here. "The director of the center, in fact, urges teachers to follow her example of raising children by violence," the Ombudsman's office noted.
To note, yesterday the director of the Republican Center for Educational Psychology Armine Davtyan made a statement in live broadcast, allowing herself the expression that "a small slap in the face can be more effective than an hour-long sermon", thus shocking teachers and educational specialists. ''Each child should be protected from any physical, psychological or other pressure, exploitation, from such actions or inaction of teachers and other workers and students who violate the rights of the child or infringe on his honor and dignity. These are the basic rights of children, which also apply to children studying in an educational institution. These actions are prohibited by law and entail liability'', the Ombudsman's statement reads. In addition, the RA Human Rights Defender takes note of the statement of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports that the department will require an explanation from Ms. Davtyan, after receiving which, measures will be taken resulting from its clarifications and discussions.
The Office of the Ombudsman notes that he will keep this issue in the spotlight and calls on everyone to refrain from expressions or actions that violate the rights of the child.
