Within the framework of a working visit to Lithuania, Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan met with Speaker of the Seimas of the country Viktoras Pranckietis and members of the Lithuania-RA parliamentary friendship group. According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, Gediminas Kirkilas, deputy speaker, chairman of the commission on European affairs, also participated in the meeting.
Expressing satisfaction with the active dialogue that exists between the legislative bodies of the two countries, the interlocutors emphasized the need to take steps to fully use the potential of the parliamentary platform.
In this context, Mnatsakanyan noted that Pranckietis's first visit to Armenia will give an additional impetus to the development and deepening of bilateral parliamentary cooperation. The head of the Armenian Foreign Ministry also spoke about the priorities of the reform program of the Government of Armenia and the determination of the authorities to implement the reform agenda aimed at strengthening the rule of law, democracy and human rights in the country.
In the context of the Armenia-EU partnership, Mnatsakanyan pointed out the important role of the agreement on deep and comprehensive partnership, while praising Lithuania's assistance in deepening and expanding cooperation between Yerevan and Brussels.
The interlocutors exchanged views on regional and international topical issues.
At a meeting with members of the parliamentary friendship group, Mnatsakanyan spoke about Armenia's foreign policy priorities, the country's position and approaches to resolving the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. The interlocutors agreed that there is no alternative to a peaceful settlement of the conflict.
