ArmInfo. A meeting of the Interstate Environmental Council of the Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) will be held in Yerevan on September 17.
According to the CIS press service, there are twelve questions in the draft agenda of the event. The meeting participants will summarize the implementation of the decisions of the previous meeting of the Interstate Council and its Work Plan, as well as adopt a new similar Plan designed for 2020-2021, exchange experience in the field of waste management.
Members of the Interstate Council will discuss issues related to methods for calculating emissions of atmospheric pollutants, cooperation in the fight against climate change, implementation of environmental projects and international treaties concluded in the field of ecology and environmental protection.
In addition, the meeting plans to discuss the issue of improving the regulatory framework in the field of the environment, and take a number of other decisions.
The creation of the Interstate Environmental Council of the CIS Member States is provided for by the Agreement on Cooperation in the Field of Environmental Protection, which was adopted by the heads of government of the Commonwealth countries in 2013. The agreement was signed by Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan and Ukraine.
