ArmInfo. The Armenian government will compensate for the utility costs of single pensioners living in apartments of social nature housing facilities
The draft decision "On targeted social assistance of single pensioners living in apartments of a of social nature housing facilities formed with the assistance of the Government of the Republic of Armenia", which provides for compensation from the state treasury for payments for electricity, natural gas and water, was approved at a cabinet meeting on September 12. In YOY terms, the government will send 8.496.000 drams for these purposes.
According to the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Zaruhi Batoyan, currently 200 people live in apartments of social nature housing facilities formed with the assistance of the Government of Armenia, 59 of them are single pensioners.
In the meantime, social housing provides the citizen only with the housing itself, and the lodger of social housing pays for utility bills and food. According to preliminary estimates, on average, utility services alone have to pay 12 thousand drams per month, and 144 thousand drams - annually. If the bill is adopted, it will enter into force on January 1, 2020.
