ArmInfo. The meeting of the 17th Interstate Commission for Military-Economic Cooperation of the CSTO was held in a positive environment. Yury Borisov, deputy chairman of the government of the Russian Federation, chairman of the Commission, said this in an interview with reporters on September 12 in Yerevan, summing up the meeting.

The issues of intellectual property, operation, joint development were discussed. I am very pleased with the results of today's meeting," Borisov said.
Touching upon the cooperation of defense enterprises within the framework of the CSTO, the Deputy Chairman of the Russian government emphasized that the tasks of closer cooperation were discussed in Yerevan. "But, in fact, these processes are already underway. Joint CSTO enterprises are being formed in the CSTO to repair, service, assemble certain types of weapons and military equipment. This applies to Kalashnikov assault rifles, aircraft, helicopters, aircraft, automobile technicians - primarily KAMAZ vehicles. These processes can only be welcomed, "Borisov said, adding that the issue of repair and maintenance of equipment in the interests of third countries is also being considered.
According to him, in addition, the meeting addressed not only issues related to the military sector. He pointed out that today for the defense industry, the issues of diversification with a view to the sustainability of the economy are becoming relevant. "We have always had the defense industry complex at the forefront of industry and we have significant scientific, technical and production potential, and we need to use it in the interests of the national economy of each individual country," Borisov summed up.
