Russia canceled the search for former Minister of Defense of Armenia  Mikayel Harutyunyan

ArmInfo. Russia canceled the  federal wanted list against formerMinister of Defense of Armenia,  Lieutenant General Mikael Harutyunyan. It is reported by Interfax  with reference to informed sources.

It should be noted that the former Minister of Defense of Armenia was  put on the CIS interstate wanted list in 2018 after the "velvet  revolution".

<After studying the materials regarding Harutyunyan, accused in the  case of the events of March 1, 2008 in Yerevan, a decision was made  to cancel his search on the territory of the Russian Federation>, the  agency's interlocutor said. Thus, it explained, in Russia, the  disgraced general is not in danger. But, as the source noted, if  Harutyunyan appears in the CIS countries, he can be arrested and  extradited to Armenia.  The source also clarified that the request  for the arrest and extradition of the former defense minister came to  Moscow some time ago not from the Prosecutor General of Armenia, but  through the interstate search.  The arrest warrant even indicated the  home address of the accused in the Russian capital.  Earlier, another  Interfax source said that Harutyunyan's extradition would be refused,  because since 2002 he has had a Russian passport.  Former Armenian  Minister of Defense Lieutenant General Harutyunyan is accused of  violating the Constitution and attempting to "overthrow the  constitutional order".
