ArmInfo. The head of Ijevan community Vardan Ghalumyan has resigned. This information was confirmed by the governor of the Tavush region Hayk Chobanyan, adding that Ghalumyan, in the manner prescribed by law, submitted a statement on the termination of his powers. According to Chobanyan, the reasons for his resignation are unknown to him.
To note, on August 29, the Investigative Committee charged the mayor of Ijevan with abuse. A recognizance not to leave the place was chosen as a measure of restraint.
As a result of investigative and other procedural actions in the criminal case being investigated in the Tavush Regional Investigation Department of the RA Investigative Committee, a number of circumstances were clarified on the fact of the alleged abuses in the Ijevan administration.
To note, since 2011 Vardan Ghalumyan has been the mayor of Ijevan. Ijevan Mayor elections were to be held in September this year, however, because of the "forest passions" in the city, they were postponed until December 2019.
