ArmInfo.. Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan has no good news on the normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations.
Thus, on September 6 at a press conference in Yerevan, answering a corresponding question, Mnatsakanyan, in particular, said: "As regards the Armenian-Turkish relations, today we have a situation where reality is not welcomed. Deviation from the Zurich Protocols, economic blockade of Armenia , a biased position on the Nagorno-Karabakh issue, not only the continuation of the policy of denying the Armenian Genocide, but even the justification of this act, which we encountered on April 24 of this year, is an incomplete list of that disappointing reality, which we have today in the bilateral relationship. " At the same time, Mnatsakanyan announced Yerevan's readiness to normalize relations with Ankara. However, according to him, the two parties should participate in the dialogue; it cannot be one-sided. "I can't give good news on this issue," the Armenian Foreign Minister concluded. It should be noted that the Armenian-Turkish protocols were signed in Zurich on October 10, 2009. However, the protocols were never ratified by the parliaments of Armenia and Turkey, since Ankara constantly put forward preconditions on the way to ratification. In this regard, by order of the third President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan, the process of ratification of the protocols in the Armenian parliament was frozen. In February 2015, they were completely recalled from parliament. In February 2018, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan announced the denunciation of the Armenian-Turkish protocols.
