ArmInfo. Artak Davtyan, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Armenia, assures him that he doesn't and cannot have tense relations with the head of the defense departmentDavid Tonoyan.
Davtyan himself stated this on September 4 in an interview with journalists on the fields of festive events in th e Ministry of Emergencies, answering the corresponding question. He recalled that the head of the general staff is subordinate to the Minister of Defense, carries out his instructions. "I am not informed of any tension in relations. I can't say more. There is no disagreement, the general working atmosphere. When making a decision, each of us presents his own approaches, then after making a decision, each of us fulfills his part," he.
To clarify that the media are circulating information about his imminent resignation and the appointment of Onik Gasparyan to this position, Davtyan noted that if he is removed from his post or he resigns, it is natural that Gasparyan, his first deputy, may very well occupy this position. At the same time, he noted that not a single chief of staff had held this post for life, and sooner or later left this post. "There are terms stipulated by law, and I'm working now," he said, adding that he was not informed of possible personnel changes, did not even hear that there were discussions around this issue.
Meanwhile, when asked if Vagarshak Harutyunyan will return to the system, especially considering that the President of Armenia recently returned him military ranks, the chief of the General Staff noted that he was not competent to answer this question, and the addressee of the question was chosen incorrectly.
Earlier information appeared in the media that allegedly Davtyan would leave his post. According to media reports, Artak Davtyan will be appointed to the post of chief military inspector, instead of Movses Hakobyan, and Lieutenant General Onik Gasparyan, who now holds the post of first deputy chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia, will replace him. It should be noted that Lieutenant General Artak Davtyan took the post of Chief of the General Staff of the RA Armed Forces on May 24, 2018.
