ArmInfo. The Court of Appeal upheld the decision of the trial court on the violation of the presumption of innocence of Robert Kocharyan by the heads of the National Security Service and Special Investigation Service Artur Vanetsyan and Sasun Khachatryan respectively. Kocharyan's lawyer Hayk Alumyan reported this.
Earlier - in February 2019, the court of first instance granted the request of Kocharyan's defense for violating the presumption of his innocence by Sasun Khachatryan, who during the preliminary investigation accused the second president of overthrowing the constitutional order, while the court has not yet issued such a verdict. The Prosecutor General's Office, however, appealed against the decision of the trial court. However, the Court of Appeal upheld the decision of the trial court, finding the SIS head guilty of violating the presumption of innocence of Kocharyan Sr.
The court also rejected the second complaint of the Prosecutor General's Office regarding the revision of the decision of the trial court, which accused the head of the National Security Service Artur Vanetsyan of violating the presumption of innocence of Robert Kocharyan's son - Sedrak Kocharyan.
Earlier, Kocharyan Jr. appealed to the court of first instance with a request to find the head of the NSS guilty of violating the presumption of his innocence. Vanetsyan, in particular, during a press conference accused Kocharyan Sr. of tax evasion and legalization of illegal proceeds. Meanwhile, there was no corresponding court verdict. The court of first instance found Vanetsyan guilty in February 2019 of violating the presumption of innocence of Kocharyan Jr., however the Prosecutor General's Office appealed against this decision. However, the Court of Appeal did not satisfy the claim of the Prosecutor General.
