ArmInfo. The State National Academic Choir of Armenia, as well as other state musical bands of Armenia, will be financed from the state budget of the country. The decision was made at a government meeting on August 29.
Presenting the draft decision, RA Minister of Science, Education, Culture and Sports Arayik Harutyunyan noted that the State National Academic Choir of Armenia was funded by the "Luys" Foundation until May 1, 2018. After the liquidation of the last until August last year, the funding for the Choir was taken over by the fund of the "My Step" block. Now a decision has been made to finance at the expense of the state treasury.
In this regard, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan expressed bewilderment by the fact that the musical bands, which have the status of national, used the services of private individuals and organizations. "The state should clearly fulfill its duties, and not expect mercy from specific individuals and organizations," the head of government said. At the same time, he urged the leaders of musical bands to consider ways to increase their own income.
In response, Arayik Harutyunyan emphasized that from next year the concept of providing state grants to various musical bands will change. The advantage will be given to those structures that will not plan their activities for a specific grant amount, but for the future.
