ArmInfo. The head of the Armenian parliament, Ararat Mirzoyan, met with the Chairman of the Riksdag of Sweden Andreas Norlen.
As ArmInfo was informed in the press service of the RA Parliament, Mirzoyan emphasized that it was a great honor for him to receive a parliamentary delegation from Sweden in Armenia. Norlen, in turn, assured that the Swedish side highly appreciates relations with Armenia. In his opinion, relations between the two countries have entered a stage of intensive development, and a rather ambitious agenda for cooperation has developed.
According to the Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia, the genuine interest of Sweden in the democratic processes in Armenia after the velvet revolution is obvious, as evidenced by high-level mutual visits and a significant increase in financial assistance to Sweden in Armenia. At the same time, Ararat Mirzoyan stated that Armenia is interested in cooperation with the Swedish side in such areas as information technologies, renewable energy sources, water and forest resources management, mining waste management and other areas of mutual interest.
Meanwhile, the speaker of the Swedish parliament called the visit to Armenia symbolic, especially against the background of Sweden's celebration of the 100th anniversary of democratization. He added that representative visits of such a level, which includes all the vice speakers and heads of political factions of the Riksdag of Sweden, occur once every 4 years. Norlen confirmed the readiness of Sweden to support democratic reforms in Armenia and reforms aimed at a stable free market.
