ArmInfo. I discussed the issue related to General Manvel Grigoryan with the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan. Former deputy defense minister, Former MP, General Seyran Saroyan, announced this at a press conference on August 20.
He noted that he did not want Grigoryan to die in prison. "Even if Manvel Grigoryan is at home, he will not be able to escape from there, due to health reasons. In turn, Pashinyan said that if Grigoryan's condition really causes serious concern, he will try to solve the problem in a different way," Saroyan said.
To the remark of journalists that General Mihran Poghosyan and former Minister of Defense Mikayel Harutyunyan actually escaped from the investigation, Saroyan stated that they did not run away. "They left for Russia and didn't return, these are two different things," the general said, stressing again that Manvel Grigoryan would in no way attempt to escape from the investigation.
Saroyan also noted that he and Manvel Grigoryan were very lucky that during the events of March 1, 2008, they did not leave the house for a week, otherwise, according to the general; they would try to attribute these crimes to them.
He also noted that everyone saw a soldier from Artsakh in Yerevan. As regards the guilt of Manvel Grigoryan, according to Saroyan, the court should give answers to all questions. At the same time, the general also transparently hinted that letters, cans of stewed meat, ammunition, and everything else that was found in Grigoryan's house are probably planted evidence. "I know that people rented Manvel Grigoryan's warehouses, and now the court must establish how all these attributes were in General Grigoryan's warehouse," Saroyan emphasized.
He also raised the question that Grigoryan kept in fear all the inhabitants of Etchmiadzin.. "Everything was not quite right, just Manvel made sure that people did not violate the rules of the road. He was always for justice, that's all," he said.
It should be noted that the former MP of the National Assembly, former head of the "Yerkrapah" Union, General Manvel Grigoryan is accused of illegal possession of weapons and ammunition, embezzlement and misappropriation of other people's property on an especially large scale. After the arrest, Grigoryan's health deteriorated sharply, he was transferred to a civil hospital several times.
