ArmInfo.Russian Defense Minister, Army General Sergei Shoigu noted the contribution of Armenian sappers and doctors to the provision of humanitarian aid to Syria at a meeting with Armenian Defense Minister David Tonoyan.
According to the press service of the Russian Ministry of Defense, Shoigu invited Tonoyan to exchange views at the meeting not only on joint projects of military and military-technical cooperation, but also on the joint work of sappers and doctors in providing humanitarian assistance in Syria. The Russian minister noted that thousands of people received medical assistance, Armenian surgeons conducted several hundred surgical operations.
"This is a huge work that cannot be overlooked and, of course, contributes to the normalization of the situation in this region," the Russian Defense Minister emphasized. According to the Russian Defense Minister, the strategic level of relations between the military departments of the Russian Federation and Armenia allows noting that much remains to be done.
In turn, Tonoyan called the Army International Games an example of the interaction of the army and society at a meeting with the head of the Russian military department Sergei Shoigu. According to Tonoyan, competitions are world-class war games. ''This is the best format of military cooperation that exists now for a dozen different countries of the world and world powers. It is also an example of cooperation between society and the Armed Forces. This is an example of patriotic education of the population, which, I would say so, is contagious for us,'' Tonoyan said.
