Protest rally against the operation of the Amulsar mine being held at  the residence of Armenia`s President

ArmInfo. At the residence of the President of Armenia at 26 Baghramyan, a protest rally is being held at the moment against the operation of the Amulsar mine. The ArmInfo  correspondent reports about this from the scene.

In particular, one of the protesters, a member of the Sasna Tsrer  party, Gevorg Safaryan, in an interview with reporters, noted that  the Investigative Committee is manipulating the data. Lydian cannot  guarantee that groundwater or surface water will not be polluted  because there is insufficient data in the existing document.

"Experts note that it is not clear whether water may be polluted or  not that is, a 50-50% probability. As a result of the mine's  operation, the waters of Sevan and Jermuk can be polluted. Everyone  knows that Lake Sevan is the largest source of fresh water not only  in our country but throughout the region. And the protection of the  cleanliness of Sevan is our main task, "Safaryan emphasized.

At present, the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan is meeting  with environmentalists on the issue of Amulsar mine. Prime Minister's  Spokesperson Vladimir Karapetyan noted that at the moment Pashinyan  is meeting with 10 environmentalists from various organizations. He  added that in the near future the press service will disseminate  information about the meeting. Although the meeting is being held  behind closed doors, it became known that among the invited were  activists opposing the exploitation of the Amulsar field,  environmentalists, members of the Council of Elders and the mayor of  Jermuk, Vayots Dzor region of Armenia, and other interested parties.

To note, on Friday in the city of Jermuk a protest against the  operation of the Amulsar mine was held. The protesters demanded a  meeting with the Prime Minister of Armenia, however, the meeting did  not take place.
