ArmInfo. In Armenia, the volume of medical assistance provided to arrested and convicted persons will be equal to the volume of assistance provided to citizens of the country. The relevant decision was made at a meeting of the RA Government on August 15.
Presenting the draft decision, RA Minister of Justice Rustam Badasyan informed that the decisions of the Cabinet of Ministers are aimed at further continuation of reforms in the field of medical services for the arrested and convicted. Decisions of the Cabinet envisage that the issues of this category of citizens will now be dealt with by the state non-profit organization "Center for Penitentiary Medicine". Arrested and convicted persons will be assigned to the polyclinics and medical centers closest to the penitentiaries to provide highly specialized services for this category of people, including laboratory examinations. Delivery of these persons to medical institutions will be carried out solely on the basis of recommendations and permit of doctors. The documents also establish the procedure for providing medical assistance to arrested and convicted persons at their expense.
