ArmInfo. On August 14, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Eastern Republic of Uruguay, Rodolfo Nin Novoa, who is on an official visit to Armenia.
According to the Prime Minister's press service, during the meeting Pashinyan expressed confidence that the visit of the Foreign Minister of Uruguay will stimulate the development of bilateral relations, and the opening of the Consulate General of this republic in Yerevan this week indicates a high level of political dialogue between the countries.
As Nikol Pashinyan noted, the Armenian people highly appreciate and deeply appreciate Uruguay for the first official recognition of the Armenian Genocide (in 1965), making an exceptional contribution to the process of recognizing the Genocide.
Rodolfo Nin Novoa, in turn, said that the opening of the Consulate General in Yerevan will contribute to the further rapprochement of interstate ties. According to him, Uruguay supports the international process of recognition of the Armenian Genocide and will continue efforts aimed at the prevention of genocides. The head of the Uruguayan Foreign Ministry noted the important role of the Armenian community in his country in the development of Uruguay and the strengthening of bilateral ties. The parties noted the need for joint efforts to ensure economic results based on existing cooperation, taking into account the existing potential.
Nikol Pashinyan praised Uruguay's unbiased position on the settlement of the Artsakh conflict and assistance to the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group, emphasizing Armenia's commitment to the exclusively peace process. Rodolfo Nin Novoa emphasized that Uruguay is contributing to the peace process to resolve the conflict.
The interlocutors exchanged views on issues on the international agenda. Prime Minister Pashinyan sent warm wishes to the fraternal Uruguayan people and invited the President of the Republic to visit Armenia
