ArmInfo. The State Economic University excludes any interference or mediation. This was assured by the Acting Rector of Armenian State University of Economics Ruben Hayrapetyan, presenting a report on the work carried out 7 months after its appointment.
"According to the results of the January session, about 125 students were expelled," Hayrapetyan noted, while admitting that during the sessional period he receives 30-40 calls with a request to assist, but he refuses.
Commenting on the rumors that lecturers are being massively reduced at the university based on the results of subjective competitions, Hayrapetyan explained: <13 criteria have been established for assessing the qualities of lecturers - knowledge of English, Russian, basic mathematical knowledge, and a degree. 58 people did not pass the competition, another 20 did not participate. Instead of these 78, 100 new lecturers have been invited to begin work on September 1>. And the lecturers, who did not pass the exam, but won the sympathy of the students, vacant hours would be offered, the acting rector assured.
Speaking about new approaches and changes taking place at the University, the acting rector noted that among the innovations is a three-fold increase in lecturers' pay - from 1.5 thousand to 4.5 thousand per hour. <Due to the lack of economic personnel in the country, the programs and approaches of the University are determined by the desire to change the situation.
The institute of student work was introduced for the first time, that is, student interns are being hired, relations with employers are being strengthened, a base of graduates has been created to make better use of potential. About 800 graduates are entered in the database>, he explained. Speaking about his appointment, Hayrapetyan admitted that he did not aspire to the post and was ready to immediately resign if necessary.
However, at the moment he not only does not see such a need, but on the contrary, receives thousands of messages with wishes and calls to work on.
