ArmInfo. Supporters of the second president of Armenia, Robert Kocharyan, held a rally on August 9 at the office of Ombudsman Arman Tatoyan, demanding that Kocharyan be declared a political prisoner and protect his rights.
In addition, Kocharyan's supporters submitted a 28-point statement to the office of the human rights defender. In turn, the spokesman for the Ombudsman said that the complaint would be examined. The lawyer Vahe Yeprikyan, in an interview with reporters, recalled that the Human Rights Defender of Armenia Arman Tatoyan several times spoke about the shameful offenses occurring in the country. <The Ombudsman must respond accordingly to the situation so that we can get out of the judicial case. The issue of the arrest of Robert Kocharyan remains open and is not considered. The Supreme Judicial Council seems to be inactive. The head of the court of general jurisdiction of the city of Yerevan, Arthur Mkrtchyan, does not endorse this case in any way for anyone", he said.
To note, a day earlier the European Court of Human Rights received an appeal from the Constitutional Court of Armenia to receive advisory opinion on cases accepted for consideration by the Constitutional Court on the basis of statements by the court of general jurisdiction of Yerevan and the second president of Armenia Robert Kocharyan. Former President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan is accused under Part 1 of Art. 300.1 (overthrow of the constitutional order) and under paragraph 2 of Part 4 of Art. 311 (taking bribes on an especially large scale) of the RA Criminal Code. The second president was detained for the third time on June 25 this year.
