ArmInfo. Tankers of the Armenian Armed Forces took part in the first stage of the tank biathlon competition of tank crews, which takes place at the Alabino training ground near Moscow from August 3 to 17.
As ArmInfo was informed in the press service of the RA Ministry of Defense, the Armenian tankers, acting in yellow tanks, successfully overcame all the obstacles in the first stage and came to the finish line with a result of 29.43 minutes. The actions of the Armenian crews were monitored by Onik Gasparyan, First Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia, Andranik Makaryan, Head of the Combat Training Directorate of the General Staff of the RA, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the RA. The second stage of the competition will be held today on March 5. The competition of tank crews <Tank Biathlon> takes place at the Alabino training ground near Moscow from August 3 to 17. 25 states take part in it: Russia, Azerbaijan, Angola, Armenia, Belarus, Venezuela, Vietnam, Zimbabwe, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Cuba, Kuwait, Laos, Myanmar, Mongolia, Syria, Serbia, Sudan, Tajikistan, Uganda , Uzbekistan, Sri Lanka and South Africa.
Tank crews compete in disciplines similar to regular biathlon. All military personnel in their units participate in shooting races, overcome water obstacles and demonstrate normative indicators in combat training. Each team consists of a team leader, four tank crews, including one spare, two trainers and technical support of six people. All crews, with the exception of the Chinese, compete in T-72 tanks. Military personnel from China compete in tanks "Type-96>, which are in service with the People's Liberation Army of China. <Tank biathlon> is divided into three stages. The first is an individual race in which all teams take part. At the second stage, three tank crews from the team on the same tank participate with the replacement of the crew. In the final relay race four teams participate. Winners in the nominations are determined by the results of all stages of the competition. The winning team is determined by the judging committee according to the sum of the results of all four stages, gaining the highest number of points for the occupied places at the respective stages, taking into account significance factors.
