ArmInfo. In the Main (6th) Directorate on Combating Organized Crime of the RA Police, a criminal case was initiated in connection with the activities of the Armenian tour operator "A & R", who at the last moment gave up its obligations, leaving hundreds of Armenian tourists in Egypt.
As ArmInfo was told in the RA Police, the criminal case was initiated on the grounds of paragraph 1 of Part 3 of Art. 178 of the RA Criminal Code- a fraud committed on a large scale. To note in relation to the situation, the State Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition has launched checking of the activities of various tour operators in the country, Through the efforts of the Armenian government, several hundred RA citizens who were "stuck" in Hurghada through the fault of A & R tour have already been delivered to their homeland by two flights. But if the first two flights were made by foreign airlines, then the third flight, which will be held today, will be carried out by the Armenian carrier Taron-Avia at the lowest price (5.8 million drams). As Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan informed at a government meeting today "Taron-air'' and Zvartnots Airport agreed to serve these flights almost at cost price. The fourth flight will take place on August 5th. In total, the government allocated 47 million drams for this purpose.
In order to prevent such cases in future, RA Minister of Economy Tigran Khachatryan suggested raising prices for air tickets by including insurance against similar incidents in the price.
