ArmInfo.Elman Guliyev, an activist of the Musavat party Azad Hasanov, who was detained during a rally in support of member's rights, was arrested for 30 days in Azerbaijan.
According to Turan, the court found guilty under the head of the Musavat youth committee Hasanov under art. 535.1 (not subordinating to the lawful demands of a police officer) of the Code of Administrative Offenses.
As lawyer Osman Kyazimov told Turan, Guliyev's rights to defense were violated. Guliyev was taken to court at the end of the working day. Along the way, he called and asked Kyazimov to defend his rights. However, the lawyer, due to limited time, was unable to sign a rights protection agreement. In such a case, the court should have postponed the hearing to the next day.
But the court did not give Guliyev the opportunity to be a lawyer of choice. According to the lawyer, at the trial Guliyev demanded to see the video of the action, as this would confirm that he did not violate the law. However, the court did not satisfy the petition and sentenced the activist to 30 knocks of arrest. The other seven people brought from the action to the 21st department of the Nasimi district police department were released.
The rally was held in Central Park in protest against the unreasonable prosecution of the Musavat activist Azad Hasanov and the delay in the trial of him, but the police dispersed the protesters.
