Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport is trying to  resolve conflict between Boxing Federation of Armenia and National  Olympic Committee

ArmInfo.The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport ( MESCS) is trying to resolve the conflict between the Boxing Federation of Armenia and the  National Olympic Committee (NOC).

It should be noted that the conflict lasts more than a year, since  the NOC is trying to "get rid of" the current head of the Federation,  Arthur Gevorgyan. The latter does not give up his position, and does  not intend to leave his post. In this regard, the NOC decided to  create a second Boxing Federation called the Armenian National Boxing  Federation.

In connection with the current situation, the MESCS made a statement  in which, in particular, stressed that the Boxing Federation of  Armenia is the only recognized and policy-oriented organization that  is also recognized by the International Boxing Association - AIBA  (originally- the Association Internationale de Boxe Amateur, Ed.  note).

At the same time, the MESCS believes that in the current situation,  the leadership of the "Boxing Federation of the Republic of Armenia"  NGO in recent months has shown indifference and inaction, without  taking any steps to stabilize the situation, which could jeopardize  the performance of the Armenian team at the Tokyo Olympics in 2020.

The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the  Republic of Armenia calls on the National Olympic Committee of  Armenia to respect the requirements of the RA Law on Public  Organizations, to refrain from problematic initiatives and not to  artificially replace one federation with another. "Problems in the  leadership of the federation can not be a reason for impeding the  legitimate activities of the National Federation, which for many  years ensured success in this sport in international arenas, highly  holding the honor of the country," the statement noted

The Ministry of Education and Science of Armenia expresses readiness  to assist in resolving the situation and jointly with the NOC to  prepare the boxing team for the upcoming Olympic Games before solving  the problem that has arisen around the Federation, and this solution  should be found on the basis of multilateral discussions.

As for the NOC's attempts to deprive the National Boxing Federation  of state funding and provide it to the newly-established "Armenian  National Boxing Federation", the MESCS explains: The Republic of  Armenia must submit an extract from the protocols on holding the RA  championships during the previous three years, if they are applying  for financial support for the first time, and also, at the request of  subparagraph 4, Article 3, Chapter 3, for funding, the Federation  must submit a document justifying its membership in the International  Federation of the corresponding sport and its copy. 

The Armenian National Boxing Federation Public Organization does not  meet these requirements and cannot expect state financial support.  The NOC of Armenia should seek a solution of the issue in the field  of constructive discussion and first of all to discuss the issue with  the authorized body of state administration in the field of physical  culture and sports - Ministry Education, science, culture and sports  of the Republic of Armenia. The Ministry is ready to fully empower it  to assist the parties and to ensure compliance with the requirements  of the law to regulate the state policy in the field of boxing, as  well as decide on the provision of state financial assistance, "the  Ministry said in a statement.
