ArmInfo. In the State Revenue Committee of Armenia, criminal cases have been initiated against a number of insurance companies, the press service of the department reported.
Thus, according to the information, in the Investigation Department of the State Revenue Committee, criminal cases were initiated against a number of insurance companies on the grounds of Article 205 of the RA Criminal Code on evasion from paying taxes, duties or other obligatory payments by including knowingly distorted data in accounting books or other documents for taxation. During the preliminary investigation of criminal cases those companies received from individual entrepreneurs- taxpayers of turnover tax received services of an insurance mediator, without having hired employees and wrote out settlement documents exclusively to insurance companies, thus ensuring a high percentage of services.
According to the data obtained during the preliminary investigation, the services of an insurance intermediary provided by the private entrepreneurs were not real, as a result of which the insurance companies showed unreasonable deductions in the calculations of income tax from gross income. During the investigation, some insurance companies, realizing and acknowledging the violations committed in the calculation of taxes in the course of their activities, showed the proper behavior of the taxpayer. In particular, before carrying out comprehensive tax audits, the latter independently calculated and submitted to the tax authority updated reports and paid tax obligations arising from them in the amount of about 218 million 483 thousand drams. "At the same time, the preliminary investigation of criminal cases in respect of a number of insurance companies is continuing," the SRC reported.
