ArmInfo. The requirement to suspend the authority of a member of the Supreme Judicial Council Nakhshun Tavaratsyan has been rejected. The Council issued the corresponding decision on July 19.
Consideration of this issue began yesterday, on July 18. The Council's meeting, which was held in open mode, was postponed to invite two members of the Court of Cassation to serve as witnesses. The meeting was convened on the initiative of the scientists- members of the Council Grigor Bekmezyan, Hayk Hovhannisyan and Liparit Melikjanyan.
To recall, Nakhshun Tavaratsyan, who was elected a member of the Supreme Judicial Council on November 8, 2018, while taking the oath on July 15, 2019, did not take part in two or more meetings this year. She took part only in the meeting of July 15 of the current year. Meanwhile, according to the 5 and 7 points of Article 86 of the Judicial Code of Armenia, the powers of a member of the Council are suspended if he/she does not participate in the meetings without valid excuse or at least twice.
