ArmInfo. In the Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee in Kotayk region, preliminary investigation continues on a criminal case on the fact of embezzlement from a jewelry company on a large scale. A private entrepreneur has been charged.
According to the press service of the Investigative Committee, in July 2017, a message was received from the general director of the jewelry company that under the contract 53 pieces of jewelry worth 7,778,963 drams were transferred to a private entrepreneur, provided that the latter receives a reward from the sale of products. However, the entrepreneur did not return the money received from the sale, appropriating it.
According to this fact, a criminal case was initiated in the RA Police under item 1 of part 3 of Article 179 of the RA Criminal Code, which was sent to the Kotayk Regional Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of the RA.
During the preliminary investigation, a number of circumstances of the incident were identified, the identity of the alleged perpetrator was revealed, who is a resident of the city of Charentsavan, born in 1971. However, on June 27, 2018, it was decided to suspend the criminal proceedings on the grounds of paragraph 2 of part 1 of article 31 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Armenia, due to the lack of clarification of the location of the accused. The man was declared wanted. As a result of the conducted investigative actions and operational search activities, a 47-year-old private entrepreneur was discovered and presented to the body conducting the proceedings. The suspended criminal proceedings were resumed on July 11, 2019; the 47-year-old businessman was charged under clause 1 of part 3 of article 179 of the RA Criminal Code. As a measure of restraint written undertaking not to leave the place was chosen as a measure of restraint. During the preliminary investigation, the private entrepreneur fully restored the large-scale damage caused to the jewelry company in the amount of 7,778,963 drams. The investigation continues.
