ArmInfo.The office of the Deputy President of the National Assembly, Vahe Enfiajyan, announces holding of a meeting of the working group on the preparation of a legislative initiative providing for stricter responsibility for traffic offenses. This is stated in the statement of Enfiajyan's office, distributed on Monday, July 15, in connection with the recently fatal accidents that have become more frequent in Armenia.
"Taking the statistics of road accidents as a basis, a number of fatal accidents that have occurred recently, it becomes obvious that the existing legal regulations are not sufficient for a comprehensive solution aimed at controlling traffic and minimizing the number of incidents, "the report reads.
The office of the Deputy President of the National Assembly, Vahe Enfiajyan, is sure that the settlement of the problem will be possible, first of all, due to legislative changes, in particular after the introduction of stricter responsibility for the punishments provided for certain acts, including criminalization.
"Taking into account the abovementioned, we inform that the office of the Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Vahe Enfiajian plans to hold meetings of the working group to study international experience and the current situation on the roads of the republic, on the results of which it will come up with a legislative initiative," Enfiajian's office continued. According to statistics, in the first five months of 2018, 1362 accidents occurred, as a result of which 114 people died, 1976 people were injured. During the same period in 2019, 1663 accidents occurred, as a result of which 122 people died and 2413 people were injured.
