ArmInfo.The American University of Armenia (AUA) summed up the Data Science Summer School organized with the support of Beeline, which was accompanied by the awarding of winning teams. According to the press service of the company, this was the first event of this kind in Armenia, which provided specialists in various fields with the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the basics, tools and technologies of data science and, using their knowledge, to implement projects with real data.
According to the source, the presented projects dealt with various applications of this science: automatic recognition of banknotes, prediction of staff turnover, analysis of samples of art, analysis of the search for names of medicines, identification of the best cancer treatment program, large-scale analysis of tourist facilities, etc.
The participating 14 groups presented their team projects to an authoritative jury and the projects with complex technical solutions and the best functional characteristics were selected. The winners were: 1st place was taken by the project Recommender System with LightFM, offering advice on products and services; 2nd place- The Employee Churn Prediction project, which identifies employees who are inclined to leave the company; 3rd place - a project that carried out cluster and sentiment analysis on the TripAdvisor platform. The sponsors of the summer school Beeline and Webb fontain awarded the winners with cash prizes.
"As an IT company, we are very aware of the importance and necessity of data science and are pleased to see the remarkable results of the participants. Such practical workshops are a great way to replenish the labor market with specialists.
