Human Rights Defender of Armenia Arman Tatoyan had a telephone conversation with Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation Tatyana Moskalkova, in connection with the issue of guaranteeing the rights of Khachaturyan sisters - Moscow citizens, who have been under investigation about the murder of their rapist father.
According to the press service of the Human Rights Defender of Armenia, during a telephone conversation, Tatoyan and Moskalkova reached an agreement on the exchange of relevant information related to the case of Khachaturian sisters. Also, Tatoyan promised to convey to Moskalkova the concern of the Armenian public, including human rights defenders, in order for the Russian Commissioner to analyze this data along with other information on the case, as well as take appropriate steps within its powers.
It should be noted that on July 6 a march in support of the Khachaturyan sisters took place in Yerevan. Sisters Khachaturian - 19-year-old Kristina, 18-year-old Angelina and their younger sister 17-year-old Maria are accused of the murder of their father Mikhail Khachaturyan. During the investigation, it was established that Mikhail Khachaturyan for several years systematically subjected his daughters to physical, emotional and sexual abuse. Sisters face from 8 to 20 years in prison.
