ArmInfo. The UN Development Program (UNDP) today officially launched the implementation of the ""Future skills and jobs for young people living in regions of Armenia"" project , worth $ 800,000 and funded by the Russian government and implemented by the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of Armenia.
Thus, at the official opening of the event, UNDP Resident Representative in Armenia Dmitry Maryasin noted that the implementation of this project in Armenia became possible thanks to the Russian side, which approved the allocation of funds for its implementation.
According to him, the problem of employment in Armenia is relevant. "The labor market in Armenia is unstable, it is necessary to start creating workforce with an eye to the future. You, in Armenia, should already today prepare personnel for 10 to 15 years ahead," said the Permanent Representative of UNDP, expressing the hope that the implementation of this project will open new doors and opportunities for Armenian youth living mainly in the regions of the country.
According to him, the development of the project took into account the experience of the Russian side, which has already begun to prepare its personnel, counting on 5 years in advance, making adjustments to the list of professions in universities of the country. At the same time, he expressed the hope that in the Armenian educational system, adjustments will also be made to suit the needs of the labor market. At the same time, he pointed out that people aged from 18 to 34 face sharply the issue of employment in Armenia, this is also due to the fact that young people receive education without taking into account the needs of the labor market.
In turn, Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures Vache Terteryan thanked UNDP and Russia for their assistance in the implementation of this project, stressing that he was in the right place at the right time, especially considering the needs of the Armenian labor market. At the same time, the deputy minister urged to pay special attention to the coordination element during the implementation of this project. "Creating jobs in the regions of the country is among our key tasks. Unfortunately, I have to admit that in our country, citizens often in choosing their profession are guided by outdated stereotypes that do not correspond to the real needs of the labor market," said Terteryan, expressing confidence that the project will be successful in Armenia.
Meanwhile, the coordinator of the UN project "Citizen Participation" Marina Mkhitaryan informed that the implementation of this project began in February of this year, and its presentation is carried out today with the provision of some analytical data. According to her, the project is designed for two years and then it will be implemented in two stages - the conduct of the study, and then its implementation. Mkhitaryan stated that the problem will be investigated first, the proposals will be considered, and then the regulatory scheme of the labor market will be implemented.
