ArmInfo. On July 11, Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan received a delegation led by the head of the democratization section of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (OSCE / ODIHR).
During the meeting, the parties discussed judicial and legal reforms implemented in Armenia, as well as the fight against corruption in the judicial system.
Tatoyan expressed readiness to assist the government and parliament in the fight against corruption and in matters of judicial and legal reforms, especially when there are problems in the sphere that require urgent solutions.
The Ombudsman also noted the importance of the role of civil society in these processes and expressed readiness to stimulate their participation.
The OSCE / ODIHR delegation, headed by the head of the democratization section, noted the importance of the role of the human rights defender in preventing and fighting corruption. Following the meeting, it was agreed that, at the Ombudsman's request the OSCE / ODIHR would provide expert opinions on legislative projects developed by the ombudsman or other bodies. The legislative initiatives proposed by the Ombudsman were also discussed.
