ArmInfo. The parliament of Armenia at an extraordinary meeting on July 9 in the second and final reading approved a package of draft laws on amending the Criminal and Criminal Procedure Codes of the Republic of Armenia.
Introducing the draft amendments, Anna Vardapetyan, Deputy Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia, noted that the draft law provides for criminalizing public calls for terrorist acts and the propaganda of terrorism. According to her, in the conditions of modern technical progress, public calls for terrorist acts pose a high public threat. Meanwhile, the criminal code of the Republic of Armenia provides criminal liability only for appeals to certain crimes. Thus, with the adoption of the package, public calls for terrorism, financing of terrorism, international terrorism will be criminalized, which is aimed at tightening the state's criminal policy in the fight against terrorism, preventing these crimes and fulfilling international obligations assumed by the state.
According to the draft, fines or arrest will be applied - from 2 to 3 months, or imprisonment for up to 3 years.
