ArmInfo. It is impossible to conduct normal and productive negotiations and simultaneously shoot at the border, creating tension. This formula of Azerbaijan does not work, it just cannot be. A similar opinion was expressed by ArmInfo deputy of the parliamentary faction of the My Step bloc Tatevik Hayrapetyan.
"We argue that in the absence of a peaceful situation it is impossible to conduct productive negotiations. And this situation leads to discontent in Azerbaijan. It is clear that it is impossible to immediately change and move on to discussions about peace after decades of hate propaganda," the MP said.
In this light, Hayrapetyan regards the bellicose statements of Ilham Aliyev and his Minister of Defense Zakir Hasanov as due precisely to the internal situation in the country. Thus, Aliyev and Hasanov are trying to demonstrate to society that they do not intend to completely abandon the prospect of resolving the conflict by military means.
According to Hayrapetyan, in reality, Azerbaijan never aspired to peace, a brilliant confirmation of which are the statements of Hasanov and Aliyev and the aggravation of tension on the contact line. Nevertheless, given the lack of alternative negotiations, Yerevan should continue the process, trying to bring Baku at least into the discourse of talks about peace.
"In this sense, it is extremely noteworthy that in his last statement, Azerbaijani Defense Minister Hasanov made it impossible for the international situation to resume hostilities right now. Later Aliyev also spoke in a similar vein. Thus, these statements, coupled with current processes, lead to the conclusion that It is very difficult for Azerbaijan to accept the agenda proposed by us. However, this agenda is quite acceptable for our international partners, "concluded Hayrapetyan.
