In June 2019, the Armenian government provided benefits in the form of exemption from customs duties to three companies that are planning to invest $ 3.9 million in the economy and open 84 new jobs. It was noted that in January-May in the register of legal entities 2974 new companies were registered. This is more by 941 firms than the same period of 2018. The number of new individual registered in the system compared to the same period last year increased by 2.615 reaching to 10.490. Allocations to the Ministry of Healthcare were increased by 12 billion drams. Thanks to the initiative, 1 billion 750 million drams will be sent to medical care for citizens under the age of 18 as part of the state order. In June, the Cabinet of Ministers decided that the funds of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports in the amount of 56 million 371 thousand drams should be allocated to repair work of 9 educational institutions and the Center for Teaching and Psychological Assistance.
During the reporting period, the government approved a program to provide assistance to farmers by stimulating seasonal employment. Thus, it was decided to allocate 4 thousand drams for 1 day of agricultural work, and when using agricultural equipment it is planned to compensate the expenses in the amount of 5 thousand drams per working hour of the machinery.
The Cabinet of Ministers also took care of the housing issues of the inhabitants of the Spitak earthquake zone. To address housing issues, 60 families in 2019 will be allocated 560 million drams. The Prime Minister gave appropriate instructions for the complete and final solution of the housing problems of the residents of the disaster area.
The Institute of Urgent Social Assistance was also introduced. The initiative will consolidate state, public and individual efforts to organize coordinated and targeted support for those in urgent need of assistance.
A single electronic platform, e-request.am, was presented, through which citizens can make inquiries to government agencies online and receive answers to them in the same way. The government of Armenia, after a 4-year hiatus, went on increasing the minimum wage. The Cabinet of Ministers approved the draft decision on amending the Law of the Republic of Armenia "On the minimum monthly salary", which provides for increasing the minimum wages from the current 55 thousand to 68 thousand drams. The base salary, on the basis of which the salary of most state employees is calculated, will not change, but the salary of 45 thousand private sector employees and 35 thousand civil servants who receive the minimum salary will be changed. Their salary will increase by about 23-24%.
In June of this year the second meeting of the Armenia-EU Partnership Council was held in Brussels. It was decided to allocate an additional 25 million euros in the framework of the annual action plan provided by the EU to Armenia. "Taking into account the steps taken by Armenia, as well as democratic reforms last year, the European Union will allocate an additional 25 million euros this year. As a result, only during this year Armenia will receive 65 million euros for reforms and effective implementation of the agreement concluded with the European Union," said EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini .
