ArmInfo.During today's meeting with the members of the first group of Armenian specialists of the humanist group of Syria, Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan presented the results to the participants.
According to the press service of the government, the premier noted that the Armenian mission cleared 27,510 square meters. m of the territory, medical assistance was provided to 241 patients, therapeutic treatment was given to 626 citizens, and 1067 clinical and laboratory examinations were conducted. In addition, Pashinyan highly appreciated the assistance rendered by the Russian Federation to the Armenian specialists during the mission.
Sending a humanitarian mission from Armenia to Syria in February from the government, he said, made a very important decision, which was the reason for numerous internal political, foreign policy and geopolitical discussions. "Nevertheless, I want to emphasize that the most important and, perhaps, the only substantive side of this mission is the humanitarian component," he said.
In continuation of the above, Pashinyan noted that Armenia provided humanitarian assistance to Syria from 2016 to 2018. <We have a very clear position - we want a peaceful life for Syria and its people. We want the crisis to be overcome as soon as possible and that the Syrian people return to a peaceful life as soon as possible. I want to emphasize that such an attitude and attitude towards the Arab Republic of Syria, the friendly Syrian people, will not change, and we will do everything possible to continue to assist in resolving the crisis, primarily humanitarian, because, as I said, our mission is humanitarian>, said the head of government.
Nikol Pashinyan stressed that he considers this mission even historic, because it is a tribute to the people of Syria, who in 1915 provided asylum to Armenians who had escaped the 1915 genocide. "I consider it very important that quite recently the Ministry of Defense of Armenia received from the UN headquarters an official letter expressing gratitude to the Republic of Armenia for the implementation of the humanitarian mission in Syria," he added.
In conclusion, Nikol Pashinyan thanked once again the members of the group that carried out the humanitarian mission, wishing them continued success. Today, a second humanitarian mission from Armenia is operating in Syria.
