ArmInfo. During the meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe about 220 proposals were discussed, therefore, when the voting on the resolution on the return of Russia to PACE began, not all deputies managed to concentrate in time and to vote correctly.
On June 1, Tatevik Hayrapetyan, a member of the delegation of Armenia to the PACE from the My Step faction, said about the technical error that occurred with the head of the delegation Ruben Rubinyan when voting on the resolution on Russia's return to the Assembly.
Hayrapetyan also assured that the Russian side did not demand any explanation from the Armenian colleagues in connection with their position on the ballot.
In turn, another member of the Armenian delegation, Hovhannes Igityan, who did not take part in this vote at all, explaining his actions, assured that it was not worth looking for "hidden agendas" in them. "I have developed friendly relations with many PACE delegates, both with Russians and Ukrainians. In this organization we do not work on the basis of our personal preferences, we have a coordinated position, which we follow>.
Igityan explained his absence from voting by the fact that at that time a report on amendments to the PACE regulations was discussed on the margins of the meeting, which made it possible to facilitate the return of delegations to the Assembly under sanctions. "This question was indirectly related to Russia as well," he tried to justify his absence from voting on the resolution on the return of Russia to PACE Igityan.
Meanwhile, MP from the Prosperous Armenia Party Naira Zohrabyan, who voted "for" returning Russia to PACE, said that the Russian colleagues were certainly interested in the position of the Armenian delegates on this issue. <In private conversations we presented the situation to them. After all, we have been working with these people for many years, and it was humanely necessary to explain why the results of the voting of the Armenian delegation were just that. We do not believe that PACE should become an anti-Russian structure, "Zohrabyan stressed.
To note, on June 25 in PACE a vote was held on the return of Russia to PACE. During the vote, the head of the Armenian delegation Ruben Rubinyan voted against the resolution, but later said that a technical error had occurred. But another MP from the ruling <My Step> bloc Hovhannes Igityan did not take part in the voting at all. For this resolution, only representatives of the opposition - leader of the BNrightArmenia party Edmon Marukyan, known for his pro-European views, and a member of the Prosperous Armenia party, Naira Zohrabyan, voted from the Armenian delegation.
