ArmInfo. Nagorno Karabakh's Human Rights Defender Artak Beglaryan addressed the topic "External causes of violations and restrictions of the rights of Artsakh residents" at the 30th annual conference of the Armenian Bar Association in Los Angeles. In his speech, he, in particular, stressed that in addition to internal problems, the residents of Artsakh often face human rights violations and restrictions due to Azerbaijani persecution and the non-recognition of the republic at the international level.
The Ombudsman, in particular, touched upon examples of restrictions on free movement, communication, economic development and violation of a number of other rights, including issues related to the operation of the Stepanakert airport, joint water management, recognition of civil acts and diplomas, and harassment of investors.
Beglaryan noted the importance of proper application of the principle of universality of human rights, especially with regard to residents of unrecognized states, since they are significantly vulnerable to existing challenges.
